Achieving the perfect eyeliner look is never easy. But for people with monolids, it can seem impossible to apply eyeliner without painting the entire eyelid black.
Not sure whether you have monolids? Look straight into a mirror. People with double eyelids have a crease above their lash line. If not, you have monolids and all of the makeup struggles that come with it.
For example, you may have experienced having to apply eyeshadow all the way up to your eyebrow, in order for it to be visible. Or your liquid liner tends to transfer as soon as you apply it.

The world of piercing is nothing new to most fashionistas. Whether it's the ears, the nose, the belly button or the nipple (hi, Kendall), many of us have taken the plunge and got ourselves some body jewels.
But what if we told you the latest trend in the hair world has something to do with piercing, too? It sounds silly, but the results are beautiful. Yup, grab your rings because it's time to poke some holes in your hair... this is braid piercing.
Sure, sporting braids is nothing new. And wearing earrings definitely isn't either. But when hair and jewelry meet? It sure is a beautiful, shiny new thing.
And then hair guru Chris Appleton came along. A stylist to the stars, he became known for adorning intricate braids with trinkets, charms and other metal favours.
So, want to get the look like the celebs? It's easy.
In the video below, YouTube hair guru Imogen of Foxy Locks Girls starts off by making a voluminous fishtail braid. When it comes down to it, you can make any braid your heart desires — French braids, side braids, Dutch braids, boxer braids, etc. Always create your base hairstyle first.
Then, it's time for the fun part! Grab your hair rings. Yes, rings for your hair. We love these adjustable ones from ASOS. Open your little rings and loop them into a section of your braid. Put them wherever you like (Imogen places them sporadically down her braid).

Justin Trudeau may have just worn his most Canadian outfit to date, and he did it without a stitch of red or white.
The prime minister attended The Tragically Hip's highly-anticipated Kingston, Ont. show on Saturday, and as if having the two in the same venue wasn't Canadian enough, Trudeau kept the Canadiana high with his choice of attire.
He matched his denim wear with a Tragically Hip concert tee in honour of the occasion.
Trudeau was also seen eating poutine outside the venue and was interviewed by CBC's Ron Maclean. Twitter couldn't get enough of all the Canadian motifs.

Ahead of the Rio Olympics' closing ceremony, race walker Evan Dunfee has proven that the Olympic sportsmanship is alive and well with a single red maple leaf mitten.
The Canadian briefly won bronze during the race walking event. He finished fourth, but was bumped to the podium when the race walker who finished third, Japan's Hirooki Arai, was disqualified for jostling Dunfee.
Hours after he won bronze, Dunfee's third-place finish was revoked after Arai successfully appealed his disqualification.
The mittens, were curiously worn by Canadian Olympians in the final ceremony, are part of a Red Mitten tradition that began at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games. Since then, the iconic mittens have been spotted on Canadians and Canada enthusiasts everywhere, including Oprah Winfrey.
Dunfee may not have won any medals at Rio, but he just won our hearts with a moving display of Olympic spirit towards his competitor.
For proving nothing stops athletes from human decency, Dunfee's got gold in our books.
But If Dunfee wants to reclaim his place on the podium, he will have to step on Arai's home turf in four years. Tokyo will host the 2020 Summer Games.

If you don't remember (shame on you), Taufatofua is the Olympian who put hearts in our eyes and a fan girl tweet on our Twitter accounts during the opening ceremonies when he showed up to the parade of nations oiled-up and half-naked.
The flag-bearer, who became quite the star after the opening ceremonies, went on to appear on such American television programs as the "Today" show, who literally oiled him up on live television.
On Sunday, Pita, who was still flaunting his country's traditional ta'ovala, let loose with thousands of other athletes to celebrate all that was of the Rio games. And once again, the Internet's Olympic husband was showed some, in the words of Taylor Swift, mad love:
But guys, let's get real for a second. Taufatofua isn't just professionally good looking. He's also a professional athlete. An Olympian for that matter.
Believe it or not, he was at the Olympics to compete!
So how did Taufatofua do? He lost his very first match. But, like a true Olympian, he's not giving up any time soon.
"What I pride myself in is not my skill in my craft, there are others who will always be better.... What I pride myself in is that I do not quit, I do not stop!" he wrote on Facebook.
What a class act. Thanks for the Olympic memories, Pita.

Kim Kardashian West is currently living her best life while on vacation in Mexico, and you can bet she's documenting it all on social media.
And while we were rather impressed with the 35-year-old reality TV star's bikini collection, we were even more in awe of what she did while wearing said bathing suits: twerk.
And of course, those weren't the only racy posts from Kim — she also shared a close-up shot of her oiled-up breasts, her butt in an orange mesh dress and mirror images of herself wearing a Kimoji merch bikini.
The sexy bikini shots come as no surprise, as the Harper's Bazaar cover girl has been proud of her weight loss journey after giving birth to Saint in December. She posted a photo of herself on the scale on Snapchat last week, showing her weight of 123.8 pounds.

Speedo says that while it had "a winning relationship with Ryan for over a decade and he has been an important member of the Speedo team,'' it could not condone his behaviour after the end of Rio's swimming competition.
At first, Lochte said he and three swimming teammates were robbed after their taxi was pulled over by armed men posing as police. He has since apologized for embellishing his version of events.
"I want to apologize for my behavior last weekend — for not being more careful and candid in how I described the events of that early morning and for my role in taking the focus away from the many athletes fulfilling their dreams of participating in the Olympics," he wrote wrote on Instagram.
Along with Speedo, the 12-time Olympic medallist also has endorsements deals with Ralph Lauren Polo and Japanese mattress manufacturer, Airweave.
Airweave plans to stick with Lochte.
"I respect the athletic performance of Ryan, and as long as he is a respectable athlete, he will remain the U.S. ambassador for Airweave as long as our partnership agreement remains effective," Airweave founder Motokuni Takaoka told Bloomberg. "We are focused on supporting Team USA and our support to them will remain the same."
According to the Washington Post, Ralph Lauren is currently reviewing the situation with the U.S. Olympic Committee before deciding its future plans with Ryan. The brand has, however, removed the swimmer's name and image from its Olympic endorser page.

UPDATE - Aug. 22, 2016: Ralph Lauren and Gentle Hair Removal will also be dropping Ryan Lochte. According to ESPN's Darren Rovell, Ralph Lauren officials confirmed the company will not be renewing Lochte's contract. Rovell also shared a tweet from Gentle Hair Removal's parent company regarding the end of their partnership with the swimmer.

In this edition of "celebs living their best lives," Julianne Hough and Nina Dobrev are having a nice vacation. So nice in fact that they decided to ditch their pants and take some pics to document ~Summer '16~.
Is that a full moon we see? Nope, it's just Julianne and Nina's bare bums.
Alongside BFF Milissa Sears, the trio of actresses hit up a picturesque lake in Idaho in their string bikinis to have a little summer fun. And of course, a "full moon" joke just HAD to be made.

Dobrev, 27, even proved she can wakeboard ... well, kind of. She posted a slow motion video of herself shredding the water ... but eventually fell off the board.

Back in March, Marc Jacobs uploaded a photo of himself to Instagram enjoying a cigarette break while simultaneously showing off a set of dark purple nails. And the fashion designer's accompanying hashtag #malepolish has since turned into the hottest new men's beauty trend.
Jacobs, who has long been a pioneer of eye-catching style statements, has been single-handedly reclaiming the 'man' in 'manicure' via regular social media posts documenting his penchant for colorful nails. He favours dark, moody shades such as purples, blacks and burgundies, adding a touch of grunge-glam to his everyday look.
Social media users everywhere have since been embracing the #malepolish trend with renewed enthusiasm, with Instagram displaying over 1,200 images tagged with the caption.
A photo posted by Andy Cedeño (@andycedenomakeup) on
However, there is some debate that the #malepolish hashtag begun three years ago by a trans woman from Edmonton named Aria Ehren. She took to Reddit last week to share a post expressing her feelings regarding a recent article published by Buzzfeed that cited Marc Jacobs as the founder of the trend.
... because Marc Jacobs made that term popular, not a trans woman named litui 3 years ago on /r/malepolish right? https://t.co/7gPuZhhnik
However, in a post on the Reddit thread /r/malepolish, Ehren does note that neither she, nor anyone else, "owns" the word or concept of #malepolish — it's simply a term that describes a person choice of self-expression.
And it's clear many men are indulging in this form expressive art. Although stars such as Marilyn Manson, Jared Leto and Jacobs himself are known for championing the gothic look with somber shades, the Internet shows a glitzier side to the trend. From creamy pastels to glittering metallics, guys, it seems, are getting bold with their manicure choices. Many have adopted an artistic approach, with NYC graphic designer Samsonntag documenting a spray-painted aesthetic, while others, such as dancer and nail artist-in-training Ben Thomas, have channelled a love of all things scientific into intricate, prism-like designs.
Whatever the color, the rising popularity of the #malepolish movement is symbolic of a wider trend — that of the increasing interest in male beauty in general.
In January, new figures predicted that the growth in the male grooming sector would drive a steady increase in the global haircare market over the next three years, with growing numbers of fashion-conscious consumers cited as the main reason for the boost. Male grooming has undergone a revival across the beauty industry over the last few years, boosted by the launch of high-profile products such as Clinique's Sonic System Deep Cleansing Brush, brewery Carlsberg's shampoo, conditioner and body lotion trio, and must-have products such as beard oils and scented moisturizers.

Coco Rocha may be the queen of posing, but she's pretty damn good at Irish dancing, too.
On Sunday, the 27-year-old Canadian supermodel took to Instagram to post a fun video of herself and other "former" Irish dancers step dancing alongside a bride at a wedding in Vancouver, B.C.
Ditching their shoes to show off the moves, the group, along with the bride, displayed their impressive dance skills, while wearing their wedding garb.
"How former Irish dancers do weddings," the mother of Ioni Conran captioned the video.
And Irish dancing isn't the only moves she's got in her pocket — back in April, Coco showed off her killer Vogue-ing and waacking skills while celebrating the 10th anniversary of Canadian fashion label, Greta Constantine and its two designers, Kirk Pickersgill and Stephen Wong in Toronto.

This just in: Gigi Hadid's (and nearly every other celebrity's) go-to makeup artist just revealed the secret to taking the perfect Instagram selfie.
It's not Photoshop. It's not Perfect 365. It's actually all in the filter.
According to PopSugar, MUA Patrick Ta says no heavy editing is done when he posts a photo of his famous clients' faces on Instagram. The one editing technique he does use, though? The "red filter."
"Obsessed With The Red Filter ," Ta wrote alongside a photo of client Ashley Benson.

We hate to be the bearers of bad news but, in case you didn’t notice, winter is coming. Another season of dressing like John Snow, or is it?
Perhaps there is a way to maintain your cool without succumbing to the weather. Perhaps there are some simple tricks of the trade to still look super stylish and keep warm this season.
We’ve scoured our favourite fashion sites, read all the how-to books and we’ve come up with a few simple hacks that will take you through the fall's cool chill (and winter's blistering cold) without having to sacrifice your outfit, or your dignity.
A photo posted by Lucy Williams | Fashion Me Now (@lucywilliams02) on
One of our absolute favourite style babes, Lucy Williams, taught us this incredibly easy and oh-so stylish hack. She layered a pretty white ribbed turtleneck, with feminine details like a scalloped neckline, underneath a sexy black camisole. Contrasting colours is super important in giving this look an overall impact. Basically, when you start with a turtleneck, anything is possible. You can layer a jumper, overalls, dresses, T-shirts, another turtleneck in a looser fit, what have you. The adage goes, a turtleneck a day keeps the doctor away.
We love how Josefine Haaning Jensen wears thigh-high boots with just about anything. A high-quality pair of thigh-highs are a girl’s best friend. They look super sexy and are basically a long sock for your entire leg. Personally, we think they should be a requisite for all cold weather outfits. If you buy a pair of suede thigh-highs like the Stuart Weitzman Lowland boot, they travel really well. Basically they roll up into a ball and are perfect over jeans, under skirts and even with just a shirt dress. Warmth without the utility look.
A photo posted by Jill Lansky (@theaugustdiaries) on
Canadian blogger, Jill Lansky, swears by her thin, black neckscarf. And we think you should, too. This easy wardrobe essential can turn any outfit from chilly to chic. We especially love the thin neck scarf as an evening option instead of throwing on your everyday blanket scarf a la Lenny Kravitz. Date nights never looked so hot.
4. Skin-coloured socks with open-toe shoes
Thanks to the Russian clotheshorse, Miroslava Duma, it is now acceptable and totally cool to wear skin-coloured socks under sandals this fall/winter. We adore her approach to the summer season’s must-have Gucci crossover sandals, with cozy ribbed nude socks under jeans. From far away you wouldn’t even know she was as snug as a bug. Russian-approved wardrobe hack.
5. Legwarmers over everything
Sure, this trend was first introduced on the Prada runway for Spring 2014 — Miuccia showed us legwarmers in bright green with blue stripes, and crystal embellishment — but we don’t see any reason for it to be a passing fad. Slipping on a legwarmer with fancy heels is genius. Take that, Jack Frost.
Take a page from Pepa Mack, and opt for a denim jacket with a hidden layer of shearling underneath. Shearling, believe it or not, can be even warmer than fur. Try to find shearling lining in all your clothes this fall/winter — boots, hats, mittens, coats, vests, hoodies. We promise you’ll be warm and ultra on trend.
If you cannot bear to purchase a heavy parka this season, there’s hope for those long walks home in -30C windchill. Might we suggest purchasing a few oversize knit sweaters (or borrowing from your dad, brother or boyfriend) and layering them over your lightwear jackets, which will then be layered over turtlenecks or collared shirts? The more the merrier. Instead of going the tradition layering route → T-shirt → sweater → jacket, try the reverse!
8. Belt your parka
If you can however, bear to purchase a heavy parka this season, you might want to try belting it like Emmanuelle Alt for a street style win. All the rage, so many designers offered oversized puffer coats and parkas this season. But instead of drowning your waistline, try cinching it in with just a regular leather belt. Boom! You feel like a woman again instead of an amorphous blob.
A photo posted by Gabrielle Lacasse (@dentellefleurs) on
OK, if you don’t think this works, you’re off your rocker. Instead of investing in a toque, which only keeps your ears warm and messes up your hair, invest in a felt wide brim hat. Montreal blogger, Gabrielle Lecasse, knows a thing or two about cold weather style (it gets too cold for life in Montreal) and she is never without her wide brim hat. Speaking from personal experience, I survived Nemo during NYFW with a wide brim hat. It saved my makeup looks and hair!
You haven’t lived until you’ve worn a dress over a pair of pants. Look how the layered queen Maja Wyh, wears leather pants as a base, upon which she adds a black skirt, a white dress, a sweater and a blazer but somehow still manages to give us all the feels. Please note that this requires hours of practice. You can’t just layer once and expect to be a master. Maja has been layering for years. So please, practice safe layering!

Organizers for Toronto Men's Fashion Week announced Saturday that it would launch Toronto Women's Fashion Week in February 2017, but revealed no other details.
A photo posted by TOM* Toronto Mens Fashion Week (@tom_fw) on
Advisory council member Roger Gingerich says the plan has been "in the works ever since it was announced that IMG was pulling out of Toronto."
Gingerich says the women's showcase would likely run back-to-back with the men's showcase, in February and August.
North America's second-largest fashion week collapsed in July with organizers citing a lack of local support.
But Gingerich says there are sponsors, designers, media and consumers that could support the event.
A model walks the runway wearing Greta Constantine 2016 collection during Toronto Fashion Week fall 2016 on March 18, 2016.
"There's tons of support here in the Toronto marketplace and Toronto here as a whole," says Gingerich, a fashion broker with more than 30 years in the apparel industry. "The designers are world class, the media is here, the consumers are here, but the market is changing."
He says the length of the women's week will depend on the designer lineup.
But he says they have a formula that works for Toronto Men's Fashion Week that could be applied here — including opening parties, industry talks and a lucrative prize, in addition to runway shows.

Veteran fashion journalist Jeanne Beker said she was excited to see TOM take the reins but hoped to see something both "fun and meaningful."
"Fashion week really has to be rethought of as a real consumer event," says Beker, adding that "fashion weeks are slowly going the way of the dinosaur."
"The system has changed, fashion has changed, the business of fashion has changed, media has changed, retail has dramatically changed," says Beker.
"I don't even know if it warrants a whole week. That's a long time. But I think just to have a few days where you really celebrate fashion, where people can have access to see some great shows and watch some great collections and find out a little more about what makes a big fashion machine run (is worthwhile).
Jeanne Beker takes a picture for social media during the Jennifer Torosian fashion show at Toronto Fashion Week on March 16, 2016.
"I would love to see seminars, perhaps, that kind of roundtable discussion about the state of fashion and where it's going."
She was pleased to see February as the target date, noting that Toronto Fashion Week's March showcase was "far too late in the schedule" because it came after the buying season.
"Everybody's so exhausted from hauling their butt around the world by the middle of March or whenever these fashion weeks were going on that Toronto was the last place they'd want to go."
Susan Langdon, executive director of the Toronto Fashion Incubator, was at the Saturday runway show where the announcement was made via a terse screen projection. She says she was surprised by the news, even though she has served as a judge for TOM's emerging menswear designer award for several years.
A photo posted by TOM* Toronto Mens Fashion Week (@tom_fw) on
"I'm delighted to hear that someone has taken the initiative to resurrect Toronto Fashion Week," says Langdon, whose non-profit organization nurtures Canadian designers and entrepreneurs.
Despite an apparent trend toward smaller, individual or regional shows, she says designers like to be under the umbrella of a big event that can build buzz and attention for their brand.
"One big event is going to draw in retailers and media from across the country and across the globe. They're not going to come to see one show here, one show there," she says.
A photo posted by TOM* Toronto Mens Fashion Week (@tom_fw) on
"Toronto is still not a big destination on the global fashion scene, as much as we want it to be."
Beker says she's hopeful TOM can put a fresh spin on things, but notes it won't be easy.
"Women's fashion is a tougher nut to crack, I do believe. It's just a lot more complicated. There's a lot more drama in the world of women's fashion than there is in the world of men's fashion for whatever reason so they're going to have some inherent challenges, no question."

If you love to soak up the rays but also know how important it is to protect your skin from the harmful effects of the sun, then you know what to do — head to KFC.
The fast food giant has allegedly launched its own brand of sunscreen, and it smells just like fried chicken.
Named "Extra Crispy", the sunscreen provides SPF30 protection from ultraviolet rays, while giving the user "a healthy chicken aroma". However, a promotional video for the sunscreen (starring US actor George Hamilton) warns repeatedly that this is one product from the Colonel's kitchen that is definitely not edible, and a disclaimer on the limited-edition product's website states: "Even though this product smells delicious, it is not delicious. The only skin that should be extra crispy this summer is on your fried chicken."
We made a sunscreen and it's free* and it smells like fried chicken and fried chicken smells delicious.https://t.co/fdqaJWcnpY
The surprising move is not KFC's first foray into the beauty industry. Back in May, the chain hit the headlines with the announcement that it was introducing edible nail polishes to its Hong Kong clientele, exploiting the brand's famous slogan "Finger Lickin' Good". The polishes, which were available in two different flavours, were designed to taste like the KFC chicken recipes for "Original" and "Hot and Spicy", and were reportedly fabricated from natural ingredients.
Fast-food rival Burger King also attempted to break into the market, releasing a "Flame-Grilled Fragrance" designed to imitate the meaty aroma of the chain's Whopper Burger in Japan in 2015.

If you haven't watched (literally the best show ever) "Stranger Things" yet, then one, shame on you, and two, stop reading this post and start binge-watching the Netflix sci-fi hit at this very moment because you're behind.
ANYWAY.
In case you couldn't tell, we're a bit obsessed with "Stranger Things." Our forever fashion crush Winona Ryder is an absolute badass in the series and we're in love with Natalia Dyer (a.k.a. Nancy Wheeler) and her shearing-lined jackets. But it's the youngest star in the show, Millie Bobby Brown, that had us freaked out episode after episode with her portrayal of psychokinetic, Eggo waffles-loving "weirdo" (as the group of boys call her), Eleven.
Eleven is, to simply put it, amazing — with or without that ratchet blond wig she wears when she becomes El. Her buzzcut became instantly iconic from the moment she hit our television (and computer) screens.
But believe or not, Brown actually had some pretty glorious locks before filming the series, which was all shaved off so she could become Eleven.
On Sunday, Millie, who is only 12-years-old, took to Twitter to share the moment she transformed into her supernatural alter ago.
"Here it is!! The video of me getting my hair shaved for #StrangerThings. Enjoy! #buzzed," Millie wrote alongside the hair transformation video that plays to the tune of Beyoncé's "Pretty Hurts." (#Feels.)
And according to Entertainment Weekly, the whole process took 10 minutes. Her dad ran away with tears in his eyes, unable to watch the cut.
In an interview with Vulture, Millie describes how the haircut was "very hard for [her] parents."
"I had very long hair and I cut it all off for the part," Millie said. "I read the script and I was so happy with my character and I thought, This is how it’s gotta be. My mom and my grandpa were like, 'No, you can’t do that.' It took me 12 years — well, 11 years — to grow something. [My hair] wasn’t thick, but it was long. And then they shaved it all off and it was very hard for my parents. But I convinced them. I was like, 'Dude, it grows back. It’s fine.'"
This girl knows what's up.
Now excuse us while we wait patiently for season two, all while trying not to get stuck in the "Upside Down."

Along with being quick-drying, moisture-wicking, UV-protecting, pilling-resisting and ultra stretchy (phew!), these leggings also look good, which, let's be honest, is the most important part.
"They’re inspired by the comfort and breathability of technical activewear, the look of a cool staple cigarette pant or leather leggings, but as easy to wear and style up or down as denim," ADAY co-founder Nina Faulhaber told TODAY Style.
And indeed with the wide elastic waistband to cinch you in, rose gold zipper accents and fabric that molds to your shape, they're pretty much the most stylish, technically-advanced leggings we've seen in a while.
If you want to snag yourself a pair, add yourself to the waitlist now, and in the meantime, check out these outfits with leggings to inspire your next look.

No matter how many I get sent to try out, I always stick to one — Benefit's POREfessional — mainly because it gives me that perfectly smooth base for makeup application.
However, when it comes to eye primers, I had yet to find a formula that I could commit to ... until now. And the craziest part? It technically isn't even a primer, it's a sunscreen for your eyes.
When I was first sent SkinCeuticals' Physical Eye UV Defense SPF 50, I was intrigued. Sunscreen for your eye area seemed like a pretty good idea, especially since the skin around your peepers is much thinner than the rest of your face, therefore making it subject to more sun damage.
Unlike most sunscreens, this one is tinted, and it is so smooth that it literally just glides over your skin. I find the tint works so well on me, I can get away without applying concealer on days that I want to wear less makeup. And for those times that I want to paint a full-face? It works as a killer base, making eyeshadow application a breeze.
My only advice is to not skimp out on your eye cream before applying this base, as it isn't very moisturizing and can cause some creping of the skin, especially since it has a matte finish.
Other than that, I've now found my go-to eye primer, all while getting the broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection my skin needs.
Brilliant.
SkinCeuticals Physical Eye UV Defense SPF 50 is available for $37 available at medi-spas and dermatologist offices nationally. Visit SkinCeuticals.ca for retail locations.

Over the years, the thigh gap has become some sort of weird social media obsession. We're not entirely sure how this happened, but to be honest, it's pretty strange. This desire to achieve an obscure space between the inner thigh? It's just B.S.
Getting tired of reading about the thigh gap trend, contouring, the diet, haircut of the year etc. I have officialy decided to ignore it.

Same.
So when we heard about a new thigh trend, we didn't know how to feel at first.
But then we figured out what #MermaidThighs was all about. And guys, this is a totally awesome body positive trend that we can get on board with.
"The hashtag reminding us beauty comes in all shapes and sizes. #BodyPositive," Twitter user @HomaBound wrote.
When you search the hashtag on social media, you are presented with an array of full body selfies of women showing off their thighs, which touch just like a mermaid's. The movement is not about putting pressure on women to become skinny, rather it is to champion women for their bodies.
So, if we keep celebrating women's bodies and the #MermaidThighs movement, we will all be one step closer to becoming a mermaid, which we're totally okay with.
