Molly Sims Responds To Cheryl Tiegs' Comments Regarding Ashley Graham's SI Cover

When Ashley Graham's barrier-breaking 2016 Sports Illustrated Swim Issue cover hit newsstands back in February, everyone applauded the self-proclaimed "curvy sexalicious" model for bringing a new type of body to the forefront of the glossy after 52 years on shelves.

That is, everyone except SI alum Cheryl Tiegs, who made a comment that she didn't like that we were "talking about full-figured women" on the iconic cover.

The 68-year-old, who praised "thin" and "healthy" cover girl Hailey Clauson, went on to add, "It's glamorizing them because your waist should be smaller than 35 [inches]. That's what Dr. Oz said, and I'm sticking to it. No, I don't think it's healthy. Her face is beautiful. Beautiful. But I don't think it's healthy in the long run."

Cue outrage. And cue a graceful follow-up response from former Victoria's Secret model, Molly Sims.

"I think it's great," Sims told People of Graham's cover. "I think we need to be more accepting of all sizes. I think the moment we do that, the better it is. Ashley Graham is probably one of the prettiest people. She is stunning. She has this beautiful olive complexion. She deserves it. She's beautiful. Ashley Graham is not unhealthy."

She continued, "Plus-size, thin-size, 0-size, 20-size — yes, there is a point when someone is unhealthy, but I know overweight people who are healthy. If you feel great in a size 20 or you feel great in a size two or four or six or whatever, it's about how you feel about it. Everyone's really starting to embrace not just a size two, which is good."

Sims, who has spoken openly before about her struggles to maintain a certain body size, especially when it came to prepping for Sports Illustrated shoots, also noted that we shouldn't be placing so much concern on weight.

molly sims sports illustrated

"When I was a size zero I didn't feel great," the 42-year-old supermodel told People. "I probably feel better now, but not everything in my life depends on what I look like, so it's different. You don't put as much weight on it."

In an interview with HuffPost Live, Sims revealed she would walk 14 miles a day to remain a size zero.

"It was very hard, I didn't eat sometimes for a couple of days."

But now, the model places more emphasis on living a healthy life, as she tells People.

"Being in your forties, you don't worry about the little things. It doesn't really matter if you're a size four or two. I find myself Photoshopping less and less, because it's time — and I don't look like that. You want to send a healthy message, because it's a lot of pressure on these girls to attain the unattainable. Some girls are never going to be a size two. And some girls are never going to be a size 10. It's who you are."

And just like that, Sims proves once again that size has nothing to do with living a happy life.

Best Dressed Of The Week: Gal Gadot, Kaia Gerber, Jennifer Lopez And More

Famous fashion favourites stepped out in an array of outfits this week, and we're here to break it all down for you.

The Daily Front Row's Fashion Los Angeles Awards was the big ticket item of the week, with everyone from Gigi Hadid to Kaia Gerber and Jennifer Lopez walking the ceremony's red carpet on Sunday.

Hadid slayed in a sheer gown with a white bodysuit worn underneath, while Kaia Gerber went badass in a black Alexander Wang frock. Meanwhile Jennifer Lopez was much more demure in a rather conservative, yet chic getup.

But the best dressed of the week has to go to Gal Gadot (a.k.a Wonder Woman in "Batman v Superman") who proved that you can wear red on the red carpet and still stand out and be the best dressed there.

We're calling it — she's a style star to watch.

Bridal Buddy Is The New Invention To Help Brides Use The Toilet Easily On Their Wedding Day

$

Ask any bride what they fear most on their wedding day, and you might get the same answer across the board: going to the bathroom.

We've all seen it: A beautiful bride dolled up in her dream dress, makeup done and hair in check; but then fear washes over her face. She needs to do her business. And just like that, she grabs the endless amounts of tulle that make up her skirt and she runs for the bathroom, with her bridal party following behind (because, hey, it takes an army to just go pee on the big day).

By now, wouldn't you think someone has solved this incredibly inconvenient problem? Well, the answer to this question might have just arrived.

Ladies, this is Bridal Buddy:

bridal buddy

Developed by Heather Stenlake, the Bridal Buddy is a undergarment slip to help all brides use the loo on their special day.

As shown in the video above, the waist-high slip, put on before your gown, is equipped with a drawstring which allows for the dress to be scrunched up easily. Once gathered and bagged, the slip has armholes (your something blue, FYI) for you to shimmy right into.

bridal buddy

You're probably feeling two emotions right now: confusion and amazement. Don't worry, we're feeling the same way.

In an interview with Mic, Stenlake says she came up with the idea in 2002 when she worked in a bridal shop.

"The brides would always ask, 'How am I supposed to go to the bathroom in this thing?'" she tells Mic.

So for the price of $59.95, you can avoid pushing all your bridesmaids into a tiny bathroom stall to help you gather your dress as you awkwardly squat.

Worth it, right?

Happy Birthday, The Body Shop!

The British cosmetics and skin care company turns 40 on March 26th, and we want to celebrate.

The ethical beauty pioneers were a huge part of our lives growing up — plenty of us bought some of our first lip balms and lotions from the stores at our local malls (and let's be honest, who hasn't fallen in love with their legendary body butters?).

And over the years, The Body Shop has done plenty of good for the community, from launching the beauty industry's first Community Trade programme in 1987 to its relentless campaigning against animal testing, they've done good in their aim to "protect and enrich the planet, people and products."

So, in honour of The Body Shop's 40th birthday, the HuffPost Canada team has rounded up their fave products from the brand.

Check out our picks below, and let us know yours in the comments!

Aerie Launches #AerieMAN As Part Of Body Positivity Campaign

Aerie wants you to (very intimately) get to know Doug, Matt, Kelvin and Devon, the four hunks part of their new ad campaign.

The ad released on Wednesday (which also stars female Aerie model, Iskra Lawrence), champions the "normal guy" and shows them going about their normal business of taking selfies, doing yoga, playing ping pong and hanging up pictures of themselves on the wall — all while wearing just their underwear.

"I don’t mind that I won’t be retouched. I feel that everyone should be comfortable in their own skin," Matt the model says in the clip.

matt

"Oh yeah, I’ve always liked being in my underwear. It just makes me feel more free. Makes me feel more myself," Doug, played by Brendon Williams, says as he lounges on the couch.

(Williams, who lives in Victoria B.C., went viral in January after he posed for "dudeoir photoshoot" as a gift to his wife.)

doug

"Being an Aerie Man isn’t just about being in your underwear; it about being you," a winking Kelvin says from the bathtub.

kelvin

"It goes beyond the pattern that’s on the trunks, it’s about how you choose to put that pattern out there," Devon says as he dances around with a bunch of grapes.

grapes

#AerieMAN is part of a body positivity campaign launched by the American Eagle loungewear spinoff in 2014 that features regular bodies, un-Photoshopped.

The campaign, which has proven to be profitable for the company, is now extending its reach to include men. Why? To encourage men "to share [themselves]. ALL of [themselves]," Kelvin says as he looks at selfies of his green-underwear-clad behind.

Conversations around body positivity and men have been increasing lately, what with the "Dad Bod" trend last year and IMG Models recently announcing their 'Brawn' men's plus-sized model division.

And while we're not quite sure if #AerieMAN is a legitimate ad or an early April Fool's joke, it still sends a good message either way: that the real you is sexy

The Biggest And Most Expensive Celebrity Engagement Rings

We love a good celebrity engagement.

We mean, who doesn't enjoy seeing two A-list Hollywood actors fall in love in front of our eyes? But the best part of two public figures about to tie the knot? The revealing of the bling. Yup, we're talking engagement rings.

From a far distance, we admire those celebrity sparklers. And why shouldn't we? As history shows, spouses dish out hundreds, even millions, on a little ring for their significant other. Over and over again, celebs prove that size does indeed matter in Hollywood.

We've fallen in love with Kate Middleton's 12-carat sapphire-and-diamond jewel, which belong to Princess Diana, and Blake Lively's unconventional seven-carat light pink oval diamond set in pave diamonds and rose gold gifted to her by hubby, Ryan Reynolds.

The Duchess of Cambridge's engagement ring.

We also collectively sighed in admiration when Taylor Kinney proposed to Lady Gaga with a heart-shaped diamond.

And our jaws fell to the floor when Kanye West dropped a cool eight million dollars for Kim Kardashian's 15-carat ring.

But it's recently-married Mariah Carey who takes the cake with her 35-carat engagement ring.

At this point, the Jenner sisters are heading an empire with multiple fashion lines, cosmetics, novels, smartphone apps and now eyewear.

Just when you thought Kendall and Kylie Jenner had done it all, they took to social media to preview yet another style-driven endeavour: sunglasses.

The sisters just launched their Nordstrom collaboration line, Kendall + Kylie for spring 2016 Thursday, which consists of shoes and clothing. Twenty-four hours later, Kylie posted a photo on Instagram revealing a close up of their names engraved on a pair of grey tortoiseshell aviators, plus a Snapchat of Kylie wearing the sleek shades.

In the past Kendall and Kylie have had clothing collections with Pacsun, Topshop, and now Nordstrom. But beyond footwear, they haven't ventured far into the accessory world.

No information has dropped regarding a price or release date. From the looks of it, it will be under their latest Nordstrom collection, which ranges in price from $100 to $300 U.S. which is typical of ready-to-wear fashion. We'll be on our toes for the launch!

Who says you can't have two baby showers?

Kim Kardashian threw friend Chrissy Teigen a second baby shower on Saturday. Social media was flooded with videos and pictures from the luxe affair hosted at the Kardashian's home.

Kardashian pulled out all the stops with a custom watermark for social media photos, a personalized cake topped with father-to-be John Legend's baby photo and most importantly, McDonald's breakfast. The "Cravings" cookbook author was glowing among her friends, including Jenna Dewan-Tatum, Malika Haqq, Erin Andrews, and of course the Kardashian ladies. Legend even dropped by the event for a bit, and hours before the shower Teigen posted a sweet note from her niece Makenzie.

"I hope you have the best time without me" - my niece Makenzie writing me passive aggressive letters!

Teigen and Legend recently faced backlash over their decision to choose the sex of their baby, a girl. The two have been open about their problems conceiving and opted for IVF treatments. Teigen is due any day now!

In top place is pop star Jennifer Lopez, awarded the overall title of "Forever Sexy." When it comes to dividing the categories into professions, Kerry Washington has been named "Sexiest Actress," Demi Lovato "Sexiest Songstress," Olympic soccer player Alex Morgan "Sexiest Athlete" and TV star and businesswoman Sofia Vergara "Sexiest Mogul." Swedish actress Alicia Vikander claims the title of "Sexiest International Import."

In terms of fashion and beauty, Millennials rule the roost. Teen beauty queen Kylie Jenner has been named "Sexiest Style Risk-Taker," her model friend Hailey Baldwin crowned "Sexiest Bikini Babe" and actress and singer Selena Gomez, who has upped her style game of late, awarded the overall title of "Sexiest Red Carpet Look." In a public section of the vote, fans took to Twitter to crown Canadian fashion blogger Sonya Esman "Sexiest Social Star - Fashion."

Thank you for the customized satin robe @victoriassecret I'm so grateful to have been nominated, and mostly, for your guys' support and votes. I feel like this entire month I've been in a "pinch me I must be dreaming" trance.

However, it isn't just people that can be sexy. Model Chrissy Teigen's French Bulldog Pippa is officially the "Sexiest Furry Friend" for 2016, while Nashville is the "Sexiest US City" and Paris (of course) the "Sexiest International City." If chilling out in front of Netflix is more your style, then you can do it in style by watching the FBI thriller series "Quantico," which won the title of "Sexiest TV Cast."

Thigh Gap Jewelry Draws Attention To Social Media's Portrayal Of Unrealistic Body Image

$

Over the years, the thigh gap has become a social media obsession. And to be honest, the desire to achieve an obscure space between the inner thighs is just wrong.

Our thoughts exactly.

So when we we heard about thigh gap jewelry, we were STUNNED. Did someone just actually create an accessory to wear in between your thighs?

tgap jewelry

The answer is yes, and that someone is Soo Kyung Bae, the creator of TGap Jewellery, a collection, "focused on accentuating and celebrating the gap."

But before you freak out about the handcrafted 18-karat gold pieces (that are plated over sterling silver and range in price from $175 to $195, FYI), the designer from Singapore wants you to really take a look at what she's created...

tgap jewelry

The line of thigh gap jewelry isn't actually for sale. In fact, it's not even real.

Once you hit the "checkout" button, you're taken to an entirely different website, one that explains how TGap Jewellery is a fictional company that has been "launched to catalyze a debate on unrealistic body image social media portrays."

tgap jewelry

In an interview with Dezeen, Bae, a final-year industrial design student at the National University of Singapore, explains, "The jewelry pieces take the thigh-gap trend to another level, the pieces are created in hopes of sparking questions. If we let the media to keep popularizing such unrealistic body ideal, will this eventually become reality?"

The website, which was launched on March 22nd, discusses media's power on influencing one's perception of body image with researched facts that reveal how a thigh gap is defined by your bone structure (which explains why some girls naturally possess one), rather than your weight or dieting.

"By using outrageous products, I hope to bring a provocative jolt that leads us to ponder and reflect upon what we are like as a society and the absurd things we value and obsess over – as well as how this creates unnecessary pressure for women and girls," she told Dezeen.

Bae also offers professional support links for anyone looking to seek help in terms of body image.

tgap

"One can use design to spark debate and reflection, to be a catalyst for people to decide for themselves about their position on this matter," she added. "I hope it leads to more people-centred, people-loving conclusions, but it is for the audience to decide for themselves."

It looks like Bae could teach Urban Outfitters and Old Navy a lesson or two when it comes to creating unrealistic and dangerous beauty standard for women.

On this Easter Monday, LOVE magazine is gifting us not with bunnies, but Emily Ratajkowski giving a weather report in hot pants.

Yes, totally normal.

The glossy enlisted the 24-year-old model and actress to star in their "Weather Girls" video, which sees the brunette beauty "reporting from the Australian Outback" wearing red and white short shorts and a mismatching bra top, both by Marc Jacobs.

During her rather bizarre telecast, she endures a snowstorm, upright-walking cats and even a giraffe, all of which she describes part of an "insane apocalypse."

According to LOVE, the video is the first installment in LOVE TV's new Weather Reports series by Sean Frank.

A Closet Audit Can Pick You Up When Life Knocks You Down

$
0
0
Every once in a while, life knocks us down. Like it's trying to show us who's boss. One of the biggest blows I've ever encountered was my divorce. Even though my ex and I sailed through ours somewhat seamlessly, I still had my on-my-knees moments. Regardless of what life throws at you, it's not so much what knocks you down that matters, it's that you get back up. Just as important, is how you do it.

Google the topic and you'll find a ton of advice -- from accepting the situation or finding something to be grateful for, to reaching out to your support system. I found that red wine helps, too.

Now I'm no therapist, but I do know that when you look good, you feel good -- and feeling good, in my books, is exactly what you need when life deals its blows. (That and the wine.)

One of the first things you could do when you're down, other than all that self-help stuff, is figure out what makes you look good -- to yourself. Is it having your hair perfectly done or back in a messy bun? Full makeup or a clean, freshly washed face? That outfit that hugs your curves just right or a loose comfy sweatshirt and your favourite Lulu's?

As a stylist, I think nothing beats wearing something fabulous that looks amazing on and makes you feel like a million bucks. We've all heard that looking good is the best revenge. What better way to stick it to life than to look absolutely incredible, every single day until you're back on your feet?

When life's doing its thing and you're down on your knees, you might as well crawl over to your closet and get to work.

Go through everything you own and pick out all your faves. All of them. (You don't know how long this'll last.) Pick out everything that looks amazing on you, that's in your favourite colour or pattern, that fits just right. Pull out your favourite shoes and bags, belts and accessories. Everything.

Start putting outfits together. Multiple ones. Combine the pieces in the usual ways and then mix and match to create new looks. Snap some pics on your smartphone so that you have them recorded. Trust me, on those days where you can't think straight, you'll be happy you did.

When you're done, take a look at what's left. All those items that didn't make the cut? What are they there for? What's their purpose? If they don't fit right, aren't your fave's or don't make you look good, then what's the point of hanging on to them? Your closet should be filled with only the best, most amazing pieces.

If they don't serve a purpose or you don't love them, let them go. Set them free so that they can go help someone else. That way, the next time life takes a swing at you, you'll be prepared -- to duck and swing right back. With that fabulous pair of five-inch heels.

Spring Nail Art: An Easy And Eye-Catching Marble Design

$

Here's a DIY nail art design that's easy to complete, but will still have people asking you where you got your nails done. It's as simple as choosing a few springtime shades, going to your kitchen drawer and grabbing your plastic wrap!

spring nail art

To start off, choose the base colour of your mani and apply two coats. Allow to fully dry before moving on.

Next, loosely ball up a piece of plastic wrap, so that there are creases in it. Paint the first of your accent colours lightly onto the plastic wrap, and then dab the polish lightly onto all of your nails. Pressing too hard will apply too much polish.

spring nail art

Choose another accent colour, and repeat this process on all nails. You can go back to the first accent colour or the base colour to finish off the look.

Allow the design to dry for a few minutes, and then apply a top coat to protect the design, but also to blend some of the colours together.

Polishes Used: OPI Purple Palazzo Pants, OPI Gelato On My Mind, and Essie Chillato.

The "size sexy" model has walked the runway at Paris Fashion Week, launched a clothing line with Dressbarn and starred on Sports Illustrated's groundbreaking Swimsuit Issue cover, to name a few of her accomplishments.

Stylist Shyan Ranje, a.k.a Zayn Malik's Look-alike, Is Instagram's Newest Heartthrob

Zayn Malik has it all: a new album, a number one single, a supermodel girlfriend and an array of adorning fans. And now he has something else to add to that list: a hot Instagram look-alike.

Ladies and gentlemen, meet Shyan Ranje, the man Zayn fans are freaking out over on Instagram for his incredible similarities to the British pop star.

Special project releasing soon w/ @creationsofla

A photo posted by Shyan Ranje (@shyanhm) on

Over the past few weeks, Ranje, a junior editor and stylist at Canada's very own Vulkan Magazine, has gained thousands of followers in thanks to a collection of selfies and #OOTDs that resemble the 23-year-old ex-One Direction member's style. From the platinum blond buzzcut to the well-maintained beard, leather jacket to ripped jeans and pouty camera gazes to drool-worthy black and white photos, the L.A.-based fashionisto is a spinning image of Zayn.

"The Zayn comparisons! It's crazy right now isn't it?" Ranje tells HuffPost Canada Style in an email interview. "I had no idea to be honest until my editor sent me a screenshot of the ELLE magazine posting something about him and I. I was like, 'Wow, this is nuts.'"

But contrary to belief, the new social media sensation, who says his style is "based on his mood," wasn't really shocked by the comparisons to Malik.

"I somehow wasn't surprised much because I went to that GQ Grammy party and literally every friend of [Malik's] thought I was him. I think its even funnier that we have mutual friends that find it hilarious."

As for his newfound fan base, Shyan, who despite working for a Canadian magazine has "never even been to Canada," has welcomed over 2,500 followers over on his Instagram in "about six days."

"Zayn, is that you?" Many Instagram comments read. "ZAYN?!" others ask.

And Twitter users are fans too:

And let's give it up for this fan who noticed the #twinning comparisons all the way back in 2013:

When asked about his new fan base, the stylist, who had no plans of working in the fashion industry prior to him meeting his editor at an event (he was offered a job based on his impeccable style), said he hopes they can appreciate his work.

"That's all that matters to me. I hope their ready to see more fashion and less selfies... I'll drop the occasional one though."

But would Ranje work with Malik? Definitely.

"Yes, I absolutely would. I think he's a very talented individual. I've actually heard some of his new music, it's dope.
He's a hard artist to get a hold of right now but let's just say... we may have something to come one day."

You heard it here on HuffPost Canada Style first, everyone!

WARNING: The following post contains graphic images.

Hello, ladies, look at your man, now back to me, now back at your man, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t the Old Spice guy. And that might be a good thing...

In today's edition of "this is horrific," Procter & Gamble is being sued for more than US$5 million after multiple men came forward to reveal severe rashes and chemical burns on their bodies after using Old Spice products.

According to the Indianapolis Star, the lawsuit claims 13 Old Spice products (including Old Spice Lionpride and Arctic Force High Endurance deodorants) have affected "hundreds, if not thousands, of consumers" around the United States. Several online complaints have been filed, including from Rodney Colley, the lead plaintiff in the case, according to BuzzFeed.

"I got out of the shower on Monday morning and it felt like my armpit was on fire," Colley told Independent Journal Review. "So I looked in the mirror, and sure enough the skin around it started scabbing."

Women's Wear Daily reports Colley is personally seeking $25,000 in damages.

"Indeed, the problem is rampant, and rather than acknowledge the serious issue, Defendant is concealing it, in order to continue selling the product and reap windfall profits," the lawsuit states, according to the Indianapolis Star.

However, Procter & Gamble is fighting back, saying the products are safe to use.

“First and foremost, we’re 100 per cent confident Old Spice is safe to use,” Spokesperson Damon Jones told Buzzfeed. “Tens of millions of guys use our products safely and without incident every year.”

Jones also told the site the burning sensation is due to alcohol sensitivity, rather than "chemical burns."

“They are essentially skin reactions some people have that can be caused by a broad variety of factors or ingredients,” he said.

However, Old Spice has a satisfaction rating of one out of five on Consumer Affairs, with many customers complaining of deodorant burns.

And now we're guessing this isn't the man your man wishes he could smell like:

Almost a year & a half later and they're still tender. Old spice cannot keep getting away with this!

Tess Holliday Says She 'Would Have Only Been So Lucky' Seeing Women Her Size As A Teen

Tess Holliday is not one to shy away from the term plus-size — the size 22 supermodel and #EffYourBeautyStandards creator is an advocate for the term, calling out fellow curvy models for their aversion to the label.

The mother-of-one (who is currently pregnant with baby number two) feels there's no shame in being plus-size and continues to fight the stigma to prove it's okay to love your body, no matter your shape or size.

"I would have only been so lucky being a teenage girl seeing women embrace their bodies of all shapes, of all sizes, and realizing I didn't have to be ashamed of mine," the 30-year-old told HuffPost Canada Style of her racy Instagram photos while visiting Toronto to launch her new line with Penningtons. "It's this message of saying, 'This is our body and we're not ashamed and it's okay for you to love your body.'"

And while she wasn't so confident growing up, Tess says modelling and finding clothes that fit her body were key in her journey to becoming more comfortable with herself.

Watch the video above for more on Tess Holliday's journey to becoming more body confident.

Janice Dickinson Reveals That She Has Breast Cancer

LOS ANGELES — Model and TV host Janice Dickinson has revealed that she's got breast cancer and vows to battle the disease.

"Janice is going to fight and she will not let this diagnosis define her. She wants to encourage all women to have regular checkups, as that is how her cancer was discovered,'' said Dickinson's attorney, Lisa Bloom, in a statement Monday.

Dickinson told DailyMail.com that a "pea-size'' lump was found on her right breast during a doctor visit on March 8. Three days after the lump was discovered, Janice had a mammogram and a biopsy. She will undergo surgery and radiation therapy.

"Don't feel sorry for me, this is not a pity party, I'm Janice Dickinson and I'm gonna stick around for a long, long time, you ain't getting rid of me yet,'' she told the website.

"It's still quite shocking. You know, I've had plastic surgery and I've had breast implants and I've always been very vocal of what I've done, because I tell the truth about everything. As I am right now,'' the 61-year-old said.

Dickinson, author of "No Lifeguard on Duty: The Accidental Life of the World's First Supermodel'' and "Everything About Me Is Fake ... and I'm Perfect,'' was a cast member of VH1's "The Surreal Life'' and UPN's "America's Next Top Model.''

Dickinson has sued Bill Cosby for defamation and the comedian's lawyers will argue for the case's dismissal during a hearing Tuesday in Los Angeles. Dickinson has attended recent hearings in the case, which focuses on denials by Cosby's camp of her claims the comedian drugged and raped her in Lake Tahoe, California, in 1982.

"Janice and I will be there tomorrow morning to fight for her right to have her day in court against Bill Cosby,'' Bloom said.
