Kate Middleton Finally Steps Out Of Her Comfort Zone In Laser Cut Temperley London Dress (PHOTOS)

$

0
It seems that Kate Middleton is finally taking some fashion risks!

Ok, so maybe we exaggerate just a bit but the Duchess of Cambridge's latest outfit is definitely a change in direction for the new mum.

The 31-year-old attended the SportsAid Annual Awards in London on Thursday night, and while she didn't wear sheer cutouts or a tuxedo dress (which is what we really want to see her in), the princess dazzled in a Temperley London knee-length dress which featured (gasp!) slightly exaggerated shoulders and a laser-cut design which was inspired by Renaissance stained glass. (No J.Crew for this gal!)

Was there colour? No. Was it avant-garde? Not really, but we have to give credit to the future Queen Consort of England for stepping out of her (rather limited) box by wearing interesting textures and experimenting with her style.

That dress, by the way, retails for £995 (or about $1,720) and is sold out in stores and online. (Damnit, Kate Effect!)

There were some bright spots in Kate's ensemble including a bold red Alexander McQueen clutch and a diamond bracelet, which we're sure she was glad to wear since her little tyke wasn't at the event to bite on mummy's precious jewels.

So where was the future King of England? Most likely back home at Kensington Palace with William and not a nanny as the couple are reportedly determined to keep their growing family help-free.

Doesn't Kate look great?

Victoria Beckham And David Beckham's Paris Vogue Cover Is HOT (PHOTOS)

If Victoria Beckham and David Beckham look this hot on the December/January issue of Paris Vogue, what must their relationship look like behind closed doors?

That's what we were left wondering when we saw not one but two cover photos of the sexy twosome, who guest edited the magazine.

One cover shows Posh tilting her head up to her husband of 14 years (!!!) with her lips slightly parted and and wearing brilliant emerald-and-diamond earrings and a matching dress while Becks leans down as if to kiss his wife with a lock of hair out of place and a hint of a dashing suit.

The second photo is almost just as titillating with David giving his best blue steel look to the camera and Vicky wearing a LBD and staring off into the distance, probably thinking about her next collection.

The 39-year-old was obviously pleased to be asked to appear in the special issue of the French fashion bible and told the magazine, "being asked to be the guest editor of the Christmas issue of Vogue Paris this year was an incredible honour."

French Vogue editor-in-chief Emmanuelle Alt also had nothing but praise for Harper Beckham's mum: "We handed over the running of this issue to a woman who, throughout our working together, has proved to be the exact opposite of her public image. She is spontaneous with a great sense of humour, humble yet at the same time driven by a healthy ambition. She is a perfectionist, like everyone who is passionate about their work."

We couldn't have said it better ourselves!

The 15 Grossest Beauty Habits People Do In Public

$
0
0
We all have gross, embarrassing beauty habits, and that's OK.

It's one thing to do these things in the privacy of your own home, but it's quite another to subject onlookers to your unsavory, borderline obsessive nail grooming habits or your method of dry skin removal. And we have had enough. Here are the most offensive, stomach-churning beauty habits we've witnessed people do in public... that need to end now.

#15: Biting at corner of dry lips
For the love of god, get yourself some lip balm.

#14: Allowing stray hairs to fall on people when combing
It's gross enough peeling your own hairs off your sweater -- nobody wants to touch another person's dirty follicles.

#13: Picking off crusty part of mascara
Yet another reason to make sure you wash off your makeup from the night before.

#12: Picking at flakey skin
And you thought exfoliating wasn't important...

#11: Removing eye boogers
We get that sometimes you've got to do what you've got to do, but discretion is key.

#10: Picking at cuticles
Just. Leave. Them. Alone.

#9: Picking earring crust
If you're not responsible enough to remove this residue before you leave the house, then perhaps you're not ready for earrings.

#8: Filing nails
Seriously, can't it wait?

#7: Picking ear wax
Q-tips were invented for a reason.

#6: Picking at face scabs
Do you want to scar and lose friends?

#5: Ripping nails
There is no hangnail that must be removed so urgently that you can't wait for clippers.

#4: Scraping tartar off teeth
If you're brushing on the reg, this shouldn't be a problem.

#3: Picking ingrown hairs on legs
No. Just no.

#2: Picking toenails
A good rule to live by? Never touch your feet in public.

#1: Pimple popping
Yuck.

And makeup can be just as horrifying:

White Party Dresses: Lace, Short, Sexy Ideas For Women (PHOTOS)

White is one of the most wearable trends during the holidays and was seen on almost every runway show during winter 2013/2014 previews.

So we’re not surprised that we’re seeing a slew of celebrities making a statement wearing head-to-toe white party dresses and we'll fight anyone who tells you white isn’t flattering. The trick to rocking the hot look is all in the cut, silhouette and fabric. Just ask curvy mama Kim Kardashian who favours a white-on-white look. (Black isn't the only colour that can makes you look slimmer!)

With the holiday season approaching, you’ll be seeing a lot of women trying out this trend in various fabrics, shades and shapes for Christmas parties and gatherings. Give white a chance with inspiration from Hollywood starlets who aren’t afraid of being bold in blanche!

Story continues below the slideshow:

White Lace Dress

There’s nothing more feminine or festive than white lace. Actresses Jennifer Lopez, Isla Fisher and Selena Gomez all wore variations of white lace and looked nothing short of spectacular. The trick to a great white lace frock lies in the colour: If it's ivory, then it's a wedding dress, but if it's a warmer white, then it's perfect for a Christmas fête.

White Sweater Dress

Here’s where fashion meets function in perfect harmony. Who doesn’t want to be comfortable and stylish all at once? The white sweater dress is a classy and cozy option you could wear to a less formal function. Actress Ashley Tisdale did a great job dressing down her cream sweater dress with equestrian boots but it could easily become an evening ensemble with a pair of heels and some bling. Kate Hudson is an expert at dressing up the sweater dress and wore a memorable Jenny Packham cable knit frock paired with matching white heels and a brown clutch to a movie premiere.

Off White a.k.a. Cream

If you’re hesitant to wear stark white, give cream a try first. It’s a much easier shade to pull off for everyday wear. Supermodel Miranda Kerr looks great in everything but if you’re curious to see her take on the cream dress, she rocked a form fitting cream sheath accented with a brown belt and nude pumps.

White Ball Gown

There’s nothing more showstopping than a white floor length gown. (They’re not just for weddings anymore, friends!) If you have a formal holiday function approaching, consider something like actress Kate Mara’s white Prada gown with large bow detailing on the front, paired with a funky coloured clutch for a little unexpected pop! When choosing a floor-sweeping dress, just make sure that the key is still subtlety. Think more SAG Awards and less Oscars prom dresses.

White Tuxedo Dress

Anything tuxedo-inspired will turn heads, especially worn in dress form. A white tuxedo dress paired with tights and heels as per Blake Lively is as sexy-chic as you can get. We’re also quite enamored with model Chrissy Teigen’s take on the menswear-inspired look which put the sexy in the suit thanks to the tailoring which made it look like she were wearing just a shirt, and nothing underneath.

White Blouse and Skirt Combo

This look requires selecting two items so you’ll have to work a little harder but the effect is well worth it. Julianne Hough paired a white skirt with a long sleeve white blouse and a colourful brooch and she looked polished and fabulous.

White Sparkles

If you want to shine, literally, we think that’s a great idea! Kirsten Dunst showed us how white and sparkly is done in an iridescent white embroidered gown by Dolce and Gabbana at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. But fear not: You aren't in danger of looking like a Christmas tree ornament if you choose a matte sequin dress that still has flash but won't blind your friends and/or co-workers.

White Peplum

A little white peplum dress is the perfect holiday party attire not only because they (still) stand out from the rest of the evening frocks but they are also super flattering. Take a cue from Angelina Jolie who looked chic in a strapless peplum dress by Ralph and Russo which she paired with a metallic belt. Hot!

White Feathers

If you're thinking of rocking full-on feathers, don’t be afraid to be confused for the Swan Princess because frankly, she was a babe and, obviously, a princess (therefore she wins at life). Try achieving this sassy but regal look by channeling this Marchesa number worn by Camilla Belle and Katy Perry. The trick is to use the feathers as accents rather than cover yourself in them or else you will be leaving a feather trail wherever you go.

White Full Skirt

If you’re more body conscious, you’ll feel completely comfortable and likely able to eat more hors d'oeuvres wearing a white dress with a full skirt. Taylor Swift read our minds when she wore a ladylike white lace dress with a full skirt to the 2013 Grammy nominations concert.

How To Make A Face Mask Using Yogurt, Honey & Grapes (VIDEO)

With all of the headlines about scary ingredients in your beauty products, it's nice to be able to know exactly what you're putting on your face. And what better way to ensure purity than to pluck the ingredients directly from your own kitchen?

Natural beauty expert Katey Denno stopped by our offices to show us how to mix up an exfoliating, hydrating face mask made up of yogurt, honey and grapes... and that's it! Between the natural moisturizing effects of yogurt, the acidity of grapes and the antibacterial properties of honey, Denno's concoction might just convince you to trade in your drugstore beauty mask for a grocery store-bought regimen.

Watch the video above to see Denno demonstrate this easy, natural face mask.

Jessie J Bares A Lot Of Flesh In Revealing Black Dress At Capital Rocks Concert (PHOTOS)

Well, Jessie J has certainly caught our attention!

The Brit singer stood out from the crowd (and then some) when she attended the Capital Rocks 2013 concert in London on Thursday wearing a dress that put the L in little.

Exuding the confidence of a thousand Courtney Stoddens, the 25-year-old braved the winter chill in a cleavage-baring halter gown that was totally provocative.

But the "Price Tag" singer didn't show off everything; the Camilla and Marc frock also had a dash of elegance in the red carpet-sweeping satin skirt which balanced out the entire look.

Not wanting to look completely vampy, the pixie-haired cutie ditched holiday red makeup for a very nude look with peach lips and barely-there mascara.

What "The Voice UK" coach has been lacking in makeup, she has been making up for in car-crash worthy outfits which have included a similar breast-baring black jumpsuit and a white illusion crop top which she wore when she met Prince Charles.

This girl has confidence in spades!

Gisele Bundchen's PJs Puts Our Dowdy PJs To Shame (PHOTO)

We're certainly aware that we're not supermodels. This was made even more apparent by Gisele Bundchen when she posed for the December 2013 cover of Vogue Brasil showing off PJs that put our frumpy sweats to shame.

The Giampaolo Sgura-lensed shoot features the blonde stunner in flannel, lace, gold jewelry and quite possibly the most enviable bedhead ever. "I think the theme of this photo shoot is really interesting, because it shows the glamorous side and the also the relaxed one," Bundchen said. "A woman can look powerful in a party, but when she arrives at home all she wants is to feel comfortable."

Yah, we think it's safe to say that most people equate "comfortable" with "baggy t-shirts and college sweatpants." But it's cool, Gisele, we'll give you a free pass this time.

Paulina Gretzky Looked Way Better As A Brunette (PHOTOS)

We know we might get some flak for saying this but... Paulina Gretzky looked waaaay better as a brunette. (Don't hate us!)

The Canadian American hockey heiress has been rocking Britney Spears-esque blond locks for what feels like eons but the 24-year-old hasn't always been a bombshell.

In fact, the Maxim covergirl was sporting brown locks as recently as 2011, when she was spotted at a basketball game with her pops wearing a white long-sleeeve shirt and light-blue jeans.

Unlike the Hollywood hue we're so used to seeing now, the 2013 AMAs presenter's hair looked healthy and really, really pretty, bringing out the colour of her brown eyes.

The newly engaged socialite also rocked a reddish-brown hair colour when she promoted her first Flare magazine cover back in 2005 when she was just a shy 16-year-old.

Although we're quick to assume that Dustin Johnson's wife-to-be hits up the hair dye on the regular, we would be (mostly) wrong! While we're sure the Instagram maven gets highlights, the budding singer is actually a natural blond (check out the adorable pic of a tiny Paulina cuddling with Wayne Gretzky, blond locks and all).

So what do you think? Is Paulina Gretzky better as a blond or a brunette?

Cheap Engagement Rings: Where To Get Diamond, Gold, Pink And Unique Settings (PHOTOS)

$
0
0
It recently came to light that Kate Middleton's hand-me-down engagement ring is not the most expensive celebrity bling out there (that honour goes to the $8.8 million Elizabeth Taylor-Richard Burton rock).

Although the Duchess of Cambridge's $45K sapphire-and-diamond ring isn't nearly as pricey as the late Miss. Taylor's, it's definitely too much money for most of us sane people to afford, which is why we should be on the lookout for cheap engagement rings.

Listen up ladies and gents (yes, women can propose too, you know): Cheap doesn't have to mean bad quality. In fact, there are dozens of beautiful engagement rings that have diamonds and sapphires; that come in black, pink and yellow diamonds; that are made of platinum, gold and silver and that are cushion-cut, princess-cut, round-cut and more for less than $500. You just have to know where to look and to educate yourself on the four Cs of engagement rings: Cut, colour, clarity and carat.

So, we did all the dirty work for you and found 10 great sites that have cheap, quality engagement rings so your woman can still look like a princess without making you go bankrupt.

Happy ring hunting! (Just make sure your spouse-to-be doesn't act super annoying on Facebook after you get down on bended knee.)

Saks Fifth Avenue Coming To Hudson's Bay In Toronto

In what is one of the biggest retail news since Target set up shop in Ontario, Saks Fifth Avenue has also confirmed that they are indeed coming to Canada.

The American retailer will be opening its first location in the current Hudson's Bay Bloor Street store in Toronto, which, in our opinion, has needed a major makeover for a long time.

The news comes as no surprise as the Hudson's Bay Co. bought Saks for $2.9 billion earlier this year and said it has plans to open more than 30 stores in Canada.

However, Richard Baker, HBC's chairman and CEO wouldn't confirm whether the luxury retailer was indeed moving into the Bloor-Yonge location, despite reports saying it was a done deal.

“While it’s an excellent location, it’s not confirmed,” he told The Toronto Star. “We are definitely planning on rolling out Saks in Canada and we are still debating locations,” he added.

If Saks does indeed settle into the old Bay location, Baker says it will be the second largest in the world, next to New York City's Manhattan flagship location and will be double the size of luxury Canadian retailer Holt Renfrew, which is located just a few steps away.

But what we really want to know is: Will the shoe department have its own zip code a la Saks Fifth Avenue in Manhattan?

Soon-to-be 80 Jean Chretien ready to hit the ski hills

MONTREAL - Even with his 80th birthday fast approaching, former prime minister Jean Chretien isn't slowing down — in fact, he can't wait to get back on the ski slopes.

In a brief chat with The Canadian Press on Friday, Chretien described his health as "first class."

"I'm still walking a lot and I will be skiing when the ski hills open," he said while being interviewed about the death of former senator Jean-Louis Roux, a prominent member of Quebec's theatre community.

Last May, Chretien was pictured doing some kite-boarding in North Carolina. Video of the event was posted to YouTube.

Chretien joined the law firm of Heenan Blaikie in January 2004 after stepping down as prime minister in December 2003.

He still goes to work every day, usually in Ottawa but also in Montreal and elsewhere.

Chretien, who was born in Shawinigan, Que., on Jan. 11, 1934, added he'd rather be busy than doing nothing.

"My father used to say: 'Move or get rusty' — so I'm moving," he said.

Chretien underwent emergency surgery in 2010 to remove a pool of blood that was putting pressure on his brain. He was at risk of a stroke or lasting brain injuries if the condition had not been treated quickly.

Charles Saatchi says he has no evidence ex-wife Nigella Lawson took drugs

LONDON - Charles Saatchi says he has no knowledge of his ex-wife Nigella Lawson ever taking drugs — days after the release of an email in which he referred to the celebrity chef as drug-addled.

Saatchi testified Friday at the fraud trial of two former personal assistants, who are accused of spending the former couple's money on luxury goods. They deny wrongdoing.

When asked if he believed allegations Lawson was so high she allowed the assistants to spend freely, Saatchi told the court "not for a second."

The art baron said it was a "terrible mistake" that an email he'd sent Lawson claiming she was on drugs was made public in court.

Saatchi says he has "never, never seen any evidence of Nigella taking any drug whatsoever."

Lawson is expected to testify Wednesday.

Sorry, Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, but we may have a new dream celebrity BFF duo: James Franco and Seth Rogen.

The actors, who have been friends since their days on the cult favourite (albeit short-lived) drama "Freaks And Geeks", are currently in Vancouver together to film a new movie called "The Interview." And the city just can't get enough of them.

Franco and Vancouver-born Rogen took to downtown Friday and turned Robson Square into North Korea (in the film, the men travel to Korea to assassinate Kim Jong-Un, reports PolicyMic).

According to Global News, a giant statue of Kim-Jong Il that was erected for the film had pedestrians stop and gawk, hoping to catch a glimpse of the celebrities.

Michelle Obama Wears Prabal Gurung Dress For Barbara Walters Interview, Of Course

Leave it up to Michelle Obama to take our favorite winter color combo -- navy blue and black -- to another stylish level.

The first lady and President Barack Obama sat down with Barbara Walters for their first joint TV interview this year, and Michelle wore a polka dot printed dress from Prabal Gurung's Resort 2014 collection. Gurung, a HuffPost blogger and FLOTUS favorite, has outfitted Michelle on more occasions than we can count on two hands. Naturally, the designer took to Twitter to express his excitement Friday night, as the exclusive interview aired on a special edition of “20/20.”

Michelle's navy blue, black and pea green dress was well-coordinated with POTUS' blue tie and navy blue suit. And she even brought a bit of that color up to her eyes with a subtle green smokey eye. (Fancy, huh.)

Thanks for the style inspiration, Michelle!

She's one fashionable first lady:
